The cooperation of DEWA Chios with EYATH, which was ratified during the visit of the latter to the island, aims at providing optimal services to the consumers of Chios, with cutting-edge innovative GIS technologies and good practices for reducing energy costs.
In a joint press conference, the president of DEVACH Prodromos Manolakis and the managing director of EVATH Anthimos Amanatidis, in the presence of the mayor of Chios, Yiannis Malafi, discussed thoroughly the cooperation between them, which will in principle have a time horizon of one year.
“We are a model company for the transfer of know-how in S.E. Europe. We are really happy to work with DEVACH to optimize its services. Our cooperation will initially concern the digitization of the water supply and sewerage networks, the training and support of the technical staff, as well as the saving of energy costs”, pointed out Mr. Amanatidis, singling out the work of the Municipality of Chios in the matter of energy communities. As he said, after the second 15th of June, EYATH will visit Chios again for further development of the cooperation.
The mayor of Chios, G. Malafis, spoke about “strategic cooperation with EYATH in matters of geographical footprinting, disinfection of water networks, reduction of energy costs, quality assurance and staff training”, defining as the goal of his administration “to provide Chios with sufficient drinking water and the issue of “water” in Chios to get on its proper footing” at last. For his part, Mr. Manolakis reiterated the company’s plan for an adequate supply of water to consumers, which foresees, among other things, the cooperation with EAGM for the utilization of the sources of Chios, but also the replacement of parts of the water supply network. Important, as he said, will be the support of EYATH in the training of the staff of DEVACH in the next period.
Specifically in relation to the disinfection of drinking water, the object of the cooperation will be the provision of advisory/technical instructions for the disinfection of water supplied to the settlements of Chios. It will include an on-site inspection of the water intake points, the needs for proper disinfection will be recorded and solutions will be proposed for its upgrade and proper operation. Technical specifications of the electromechanical equipment that will be required will also be given, along with a set of instructions on how to disinfect the tanks and the network (in case of pipe replacement or damage, etc.), as well as instructions for safe disinfection work.
The cooperation memorandum signed in April by EYATH and DEVAX provides for the provision of technical support by EYATH (specifically through its subsidiary EYATH Services) both in the consulting part and in the operational part (procurement, implementation). The purpose is, with the technical and scientific guidance of the experienced and specialized executives of EYATH, DEVACH to optimally manage its human and financial resources, saving time and ensuring long-term return on investment and excellent results. DEVACH is currently in the process of developing and rationalizing its operations at the level of network management, facility operation and digitization of processes in a wide range of water supply and sewerage activities, with the aim of reducing the company’s operating expenses, increasing revenues and optimizing services to the final consumer.
The team of EYATH was consisted, apart from the managing director Mr. Amanatidis, of the members of the Board of Directors. N. Kleitou, M. Petalas, S. Ammanatidou and G. Kavouras, Head of Dept. of Geoinformatics – Topography – Hydraulic Model – GIS, and X. Albanaki, head of the Department of Operation and Maintenance of Water Treatment Facilities.
