Open data at the service of society

The use of open data for the benefit of society was the subject of a conference organized yesterday by the Region of Central Macedonia – Digital Governance Sub-Region, in the conference room of the Regional Council of Central Macedonia.

In the first panel of the conference, EYATH was represented by Georgios Angelou, Director of Digital Transformation and Informatics, who pointed out that the company “produces” – through its operational functions – data for publication for further use by third parties. He indicated the qualitative characteristics of water and wastewater, the data relating to damages per region and of course the data on water consumption.

The use of open data originating from operational functions is because, Mr. Angelou pointed out, of the way they are managed and are made available. As he said, “the data should ideally be in electronic form and their collection and disposal should be done in an automated manner, so that the whole effort is truly sustainable”. “In fact, their possible correlation with data from other bodies optimizes the results of their use and this is an area that EYATH is constantly developing, always in accordance with the current regulatory framework”, Mr. Angelou pointed out.

He made specific reference to EYATH’s customer portal, which “constitutes a platform for personalized and more general information and communication with both our customers and all residents of our area of responsibility, with the aim of improving their digital experience, their service and their daily lives in general”.

Mr. Angelou called on our fellow citizens to register on MyEyathPortal, so that they can receive extensive information about the water supply and sewage services provided by the company.
