A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Nicosia District Self-Government Organization (EOA) and EYATH Services S.A.—a subsidiary of the Thessaloniki Water Supply & Sewerage Co. S.A. (EYATH S.A.)—aiming to foster collaboration in areas such as water management, service digitalization, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), citizen service via electronic platforms, and energy conservation.

The partnership between the two organizations seeks to facilitate the exchange of know-how and specialized expertise, with the goal of upgrading operations, optimizing network management, and providing enhanced services to citizens. Furthermore, the Memorandum foresees cooperation and knowledge sharing regarding the detection and reduction of water leaks, leveraging the significant experience both organizations possess in this specific field. In a statement, the President of the Nicosia District Local Government Organization, Konstantinos Yiorkatzis, said:

“Today’s signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Thessaloniki Water Supply & Sewerage Company (EYATH) marks a particularly significant development for the Nicosia District Local Government Organization and signals the start of a substantive, strategic partnership with a clear focus on the future. Through this collaboration, we are strengthening our efforts toward organizational upgrading, digital transformation, and improved services for citizens, leveraging EYATH’s valuable experience and expertise in critical areas such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), network management, digital applications, and water resource protection. At the same time, the Nicosia District Local Government Organization possesses significant experience in detecting and reducing water leaks, making this partnership truly mutually beneficial and productive.” “At a time when the consequences of the climate crisis and the growing challenges of water resource management demand modern solutions and collaborations, such partnerships take on special significance for the benefit of our organizations and society.”

Speaking on behalf of the Thessaloniki Water Supply & Sewerage Company (EYATH), CEO Anthimos Amanatidis stated:

“The expansion of EYATH’s partnerships marks a particularly significant development for our company, as it confirms that the expertise, experience, and operational practices of our people can be leveraged beyond our borders. The new Memorandum of Cooperation with the Nicosia District Local Government Organization is a great honor for us and reinforces our role as an entity driving innovation and outward-looking engagement across the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. It represents yet another opportunity for knowledge exchange, skills development, and participation in projects with an international footprint.” After all, Greece and Cyprus face common challenges—foremost among them water scarcity and the consequences of the climate crisis—making cooperation between utility organizations essential for the sustainability of our water resources.
