EYATH in Chios for Water Day

EYATH made a double “presence” at the events of DEYA Chios of the Island of Chios on the occasion of World Water Day 2025, within the framework of their broader collaboration on innovative GIS technologies and good practices for reducing energy costs.

In the two workshops organized by DEYA Chios on the topic of water scarcity on the island and strategies for dealing with it, at the Homeric Cultural Center of Chios and at the cultural center of Kardamylo, EYATH was represented by Ioanna Dovletoglou, lawyer, member of the Board of Directors of the company. In her speech on “Technology and sustainable water resources management”, she developed the example of EYATH on issues of water management and sustainability. As she said, “according to the data we have at our disposal, in collaboration with PPC, it appears that water supply is fully covered by 2030 even in the most unfavorable (in terms of drought and infrastructure development) scenarios”.

“Digitalization, innovative technologies, utilization of Artificial Intelligence is our “answer” to the preservation of water resources. We are modernizing water supply networks, expanding their remote management systems, with the aim of reducing water losses, digitizing our operation by utilizing innovative processes and automation”, pointed out Ms. Dovletoglou and mentioned as examples the installation of “smart” water meters, the expansion of remote management of networks water supply via SCADA, as well as the promotion of solutions for the reuse of treated wastewater.

“It is necessary to remain economically sustainable and, at the same time, socially beneficial as EYATH”, she concluded, noting that the company celebrated Water Day this year with the slogan “See you at the public taps” and the expansion of the network of public taps in Thessaloniki.

The “Awareness raising and education actions of the population of Chios on the problem of water supply and water scarcity in Chios and strategies to address the problem”, as is the title of the DEYACH initiative, were organized in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Water Management and Water Law of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).
