A new, updated memorandum of cooperation with the Larnaca District Government Organization of Cyprus (LDGO), formerly the Larnaca Sewerage Board (LSB), was signed by EYATH in the context of the 89th TIF. The memorandum was signed by EYATH President Angelos Hadjicharalambous and EYATH CEO Anthimos Amanatidis, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Natural Environment and Waters of the Ministry of National Economy, Petros Varelidis.
The cooperation, with EYATH’s implementing body, its subsidiary EYATH Services S.A., will concern the provision of technical services by EYATH to EYATH, both at the level of consultancy and at the level of implementation (procurement, application). The two sides are expected to cooperate on issues of geographic information systems (GIS), smart water meters and hydraulically isolated subzones in the network, on issues of surface water quality and reservoir levels, as well as energy saving in the facilities of EOAL.
“The agreement between EYATH and EOAL, signed in the context of the 89th TIF, constitutes a best practice towards the sustainable management of water resources with the transfer of know-how from Greece to Cyprus and the aim of strengthening infrastructure, exploiting innovative solutions and ultimately ensuring citizens’ access to clean and safe drinking water. This cooperation is another example of how international partnership can contribute to the goals of sustainable development and adaptation to climate change. The Ministry of Environment remains committed to strengthening innovation and international cooperation, aiming for a safe and sustainable water future for all”, points out the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Petros Varelidis.
“Our cooperation with similar companies abroad creates fertile ground for the transfer of know-how, the exchange of best practices, the exploitation of innovative technologies and the enhancement of operational efficiency. EYATH, as a company with many years of experience and technical expertise, considers it its duty to actively contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and the support of organizations facing similar challenges, especially in the midst of the climate crisis. Thus, not only is our international role strengthened, but new development prospects are also opened for our executives and our entire organization. We are therefore very happy to expand our collaboration with EOAL, looking forward to a more resilient, more efficient and more environmentally friendly future for all”, comments EYATH CEO, Anthimos Amanatidis.
EOAL President, Angelos Hadjicharalambous, points out that “the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with EYATH Services S.A. is of particular importance for the Larnaca EOA and our local community. Through this strategic collaboration, we ensure the transfer of valuable know-how and experience in the field of water supply and sewage management, with the aim of upgrading our services and offering modern and efficient solutions to citizens”. “This collaboration is linked to our broader plan for the modernization of infrastructure, the reduction of operating costs and the promotion of sustainable practices, such as energy saving and the better utilization of natural resources. We believe that the experience of EYATH, combined with our own efforts and knowledge of local needs, will contribute decisively to enhancing the quality of life of citizens and will create solid foundations for a more sustainable future for the Larnaca district”, he adds.
EYATH S.A. has long-standing experience and know-how in integrated management (design, construction, operation and maintenance of water supply and sewage networks and their installations) through information systems. It has developed technologies and infrastructures for integrated network management through geographic information systems (GIS), gaining long-term in-house experience of over two decades in the organization, storage and management of technical information. In fact, EYATH S.A.’s GIS has been awarded the Special Achievement in GIS Award at the ESRI World User Conference.
The now expanded service also includes water supply, solid waste management and licensing of development projects (the initial memorandum with EYATH was signed in December 2023).
