A public tap at Thessaloniki City Hall

One more tap, the tenth public tap in total, this time at Thessaloniki City Hall, was aproved by the EYATH Employees’ Union as a continuation of the “See you at the Public Taps” program, which is jointly implemented by EYATH and its employees, the Municipality of Thessaloniki and Greenpeace, highlighting the importance of public taps for the quality of life of citizens and the protection of the environment from single-use plastics.

The vice president of EYATH, Grigoris Penelis, in the context of the delivery of the new tap, highlighted the company’s commitment to the philosophy of the public tap network and noted that “after Nea Paralia, in the coming period we will expand our program to the city center, while the effort to re-operate the old Ottoman fountains of the Upper Town is also progressing”, the functionality of which will be ensured by the EYATH Employees’ Union.

The delivery of the tap took place in the context of an event on the occasion of the completion of 20 years of the environmental organization “Kallisto”, which strongly supports the program of installing public taps, recognizing the importance of water as a vital, common good for humans and their activities.

Greenpeace’s “See you at the Taps” program aims to ensure safe drinking water everywhere and access to an adequate network of public taps for all, as well as reducing single-use plastics and waste.
